The Best is Yet to Come?

나이가 들어가면서 <추억>이 많이지고,
(그것이 특별히 아름다운 추억이라면)
그 추억과 연관된 일이나 사람이나 장소등을 ‘let go’ 해야하는 경험을 하면,
아… 그 아름다운 추억들이 함께 가는구나…. 하는 생각에,
‘아 옛날이여’를 되뇌이게 된다.

과거의 추억이 아름다우면 아름다울수록, 
그 ‘let go’ 하는 과정은 더 마음을 아프게 하는데…

어제 오후의 짧은 전화 한통은,
이제 겨우 40대 초반인 내가,
그 옛날을 머리속에 떠올리게 만들었다.

육체적으로 나이가 들어가면서도, 마음과 생각이 ‘낡은 것’이 되지 않기 위해서는,
과거 지향적이기보다는 미래 지향적일 필요가 있을텐데…

과거가 아름다웠지만, The Best is Yet to Come 이라는 소망을 복음안에 가지고 있다는 것을 되뇌이면서도,
아쉬움에… 좀 더 그 추억에 머무르고 싶은 유혹을 떨쳐버리기 어려웠다.

그래도… 정말 The Best is Yet to Come 이겠지!!
